The best readers do both:
- Gut first. What's the first word that comes up when you see the card in this position? Write it down before you consult anything.
- Book second. Look at the meaning; compare. Where does your instinct agree? Where does it diverge?
- Third read. Go back to the spread with both voices and see which one the cards confirm.
Over time, your gut gets faster and the book gets shorter. That's the whole art.
