Rahu is the North Node of the Moon — a shadow planet, not a physical body, but a calculated point where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic going north. Rahu represents amplified desire, ambition without limit, the foreign and unconventional, modern technology, sudden gains and losses, addictions, illusion (maya), and the unsatisfied longing of the soul incarnated in this lifetime. Rahu has no own sign and takes on the qualities of whichever sign it occupies and whichever planet rules that sign. A strong Rahu can give extraordinary success in unconventional fields, foreign success, and innovation. An afflicted Rahu can manifest as obsession, addiction, scandal, deception, or chronic skin / nervous-system complaints.
