Guru / Brihaspati
Jupiter
Guru karaka — significator of teachers, wisdom, husband (in female chart), and children
Brihaspati is the great benefic — the guru of the gods. Jupiter rules wisdom, higher learning, philosophy, religion, dharma, the role of teacher and student, the husband in a woman's chart, children (especially the eldest), wealth, and the principle of expansion. A strong Jupiter is one of the most fortunate placements in any chart — it brings ethical clarity, good fortune through teachers and mentors, healthy progeny, and accumulated wisdom that grows with age. Weak Jupiter can manifest as crisis of faith, problems with children or husband, weight gain (Jupiter rules fat tissue), liver issues, or moral compromise under pressure. Thursday is Jupiter's day — auspicious for beginning new ventures, pilgrimages, and spiritual study.
