The fifth house — Putra Bhava — is one of the most auspicious houses (a trikona). It governs children, intelligence and creative expression, romance (before marriage), speculative gains, devotion and mantra practice, and the merit accumulated from past lives. The 5th lord is one of the most important planets to assess. Jupiter — the karaka for children and wisdom — performs especially well here. The 5th and 9th together form the dharma-trikona, the fortunate axis of a chart.
